Although Tom Hanks met Rita Wilson in 1981, sparks didn’t fly until 1984, when they co-starred in the movie Volunteers. When he met Wilson, he had just divorced from his first wife, actress Samantha Lewes. They ended up saying their “I do’s” in 1988.

Hanks told BBC host Kirsty Young, “I don’t think I’ll ever be lonely anymore … that’s how I felt when I met my wife.” They’ve been through a lot over the past three decades, with Rita being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, but as Wilson told The New York Times, “I was so amazed, so blown away by the care my husband gave me … who knew it would make you even closer?”

Looks like just being Harrison Ford isn’t enough to get the ladies! Ford actually needed a little assistance in winning over his wife, and he asked actor James Marsden for some help, as he had dinner with the couple before they began a relationship.

In 2003, Ford, who is usually a very private person, told Hello! magazine, “I’m in love! Romantic love is one of the most exciting and fulfilling kinds of love, and I think there is a potential for it any stage of your life. I was not surprised that I was able to fall in love, and I wasn’t surprised that I did.” The pair married in 2009 in a very casual ceremony.

It looks like it was love at first sight for this couple in 1984, as Jamie Lee Curtis wrote in a piece for O, The Oprah Magazine that she knew she wanted to marry Christopher Guest the moment she saw him. She writes, “Debra and I were flipping through a Rolling Stone magazine when I turned to a photograph of three men.”

She continued, “I looked at the man on the right, wearing a plaid shirt and a waggish smirk. I’d never seen him before, but I pointed at him. ‘I’m going to marry that man,’ I said to my friend.” They were married in December of 1984.

Hollywood legends Warren Beatty and Annette Bening have been married since 1992. Their marriage garnered a lot of controversies, seeing as there is a shocking 21-year age difference between the two. Beatty, who was known for his playboy antics and womanizing ways, shocked the media when he settled down with his co-star from the film Bugsy.

When the pair met for lunch to prepare for the film, Beatty almost immediately knew that Bening would become an essential part of his life. He told People, “I remember losing interest in the garlic chicken I was eating within 20 seconds.”

This couple couldn’t have been any more perfect had you picked them out of a catalog yourself. Notorious Hollywood actress Elizabeth Taylor and hotel magnate Conrad “Nicky” Hilton Jr. married in 1950. Taylor was 18 when she married Conrad, who was 24 at the time.

After 205 days of married life (three months were spent on their honeymoon), they separated. Taylor called it quits and charged Conrad with “extreme mental cruelty.” She explained that he had been “indifferent to me and used abusive language.” Taylor later confessed that she had been “very naive.” This would be the shortest of her eight marriages.

This rock ’n’ roller and model met back in 1979, while Hansen was celebrating her 23rd birthday at Studio 54. Upon meeting, Hansen convinced Richards to buy her a bottle of champagne after last call. According to Harper’s BAZAAR, Richards was “over the moon and peeing in my pants” from excitement after speaking to the model.

Nine months later, they met again, only to find they were both flustered by the other. Harper’s BAZAAR reported that Richards later wrote, “Incredibly, I’ve found a woman. A miracle. She is the most beautiful specimen in the WORLD.” They married in 1983, and have two children.

This indestructible couple met back in 1977 but didn’t get married until 1983. They met on the set of the television movie Wilma, and they began dating shortly after their meeting. He described their initial meeting on LIVE with Kelly and Ryan: “I met her then, but I didn’t meet her then. I saw her then.”

Apparently, Pauletta rejected Denzel’s proposal two times before finally saying yes. He told Access Hollywood at the premiere of 2 Guns, “You heard it here first. She turned me down, she said no. And since it was three times, that means she turned me down twice.”

David Bowie and Iman’s love story was one that went down in Hollywood history. They’ve always been quiet about their relationship, but David Bowie shared some insight, saying, “You would think that a rock star being married to a supermodel would be one of the greatest things in the world. It is.”

In an adorable response, Iman shared on The Nate Berkus Show in 2010 that, “My marriage is exactly as fabulous as you would all think.” The pair met on a blind date in 1990, and they married in 1992. Bowie passed in 2016, after losing a fight to cancer, leaving Iman heartbroken. She told Porter Edit, “I will never remarry.”

Ron and Cheryl Howard’s love story is one to remember! They were high school sweethearts, and they went on their first date when they were 16 years old. They married in 1975, and they have four children together, the oldest being actress Bryce Dallas Howard.

Ron Howard has admitted that their relationship has succeeded even though there were many things working against them. He told HuffPost Live, “I felt really lucky when we met. It’s crazy — we were teenagers, it shouldn’t have worked. We got married young, that shouldn’t have worked either, and yet it really and truly has.”

Meryl Streep, aka the most Oscar-nominated actor ever, met her husband, sculptor Don Gummer, in 1978. The pair met six months after Streep’s first husband, John Cazale, unfortunately, passed away from lung cancer. They’ve remained private since starting up their relationship, but she did address him in 2012 when she received an Oscar for Best Actress.

She gushed, “First, I’m going to thank Don, because when you thank your husband at the end of the speech, they play him out with music and I want him to know that everything I value most in our lives, you’ve given me.” They have four children together, and Streep is also the godmother of Billie Lourd, daughter of actress Carrie Fisher.

So, this couple’s story is a little unexpected. Sure, Kevin Bacon met his wife on the set of Lemon Sky in the ’80s, but it turns out they actually met for the first time when Sedgwick was 12 years old. He admitted on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson that he had just finished performing a play and he was at a deli nearby when she came up to him.

He said, “A little girl was in there who had just seen the matinee, and her brother said, ‘You liked that actor, go tell him you liked him,’ and it was Kyra. She was a little girl, yeah, she was 12 years old.” They married shortly after they met again in 1988.

The Star Wars star and his wife recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. In December 2018, he posted a photo to celebrate their four-decade mark with a Maya Angelou quote in the caption: “In all the world, there is no heart for me like yours. Although they’ve been married since 1978, they’ve remained quiet about their relationship. During an appearance on Good Morning America, Marilou Hamill was asked how they’ve managed to keep their relationship under the radar, and she said, “We don’t live in town, so we don’t go in and do all the party circuits.”

When the minister saw the names “Tom Jenkins” and “Suzie Mark”, he didn’t think anything of it. However, he did learn of their true identity minutes before the ceremony. Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth were #relationshipgoals when they began dating after meeting on the set of The Last Song in 2009. The couple went on to have an on-again, off-again relationship until Hemsworth finally popped the big question in 2012. Not even a year later, they called it quits, seemingly for good.

Fans were shocked (and excited) to see that the pair decided to get back together in 2015. In December 2018, they finally said their “I do’s” during a quiet ceremony surrounded by friends and family. Not long after getting hitched, they broke up….AGAIN. THIS TIME, for good. Although Cyrus is credited with the initial split, Hemsworth is apparently the one who served the divorce papers.

It was revealed in August 2019, that Dwayne Johnson, a.k.a The Rock, is officially a married man. Johnson was married to Dany Garcia between 1997 and 2007, and after they divorced, he began dating Lauren Hashian. Johnson and Hashian met in 2006 while he was filming The Game Plan, and they recently celebrated their 12th anniversary.

The pair have two daughters together: Jasmine and Tiana. The happy couple revealed that they got married in Hawaii, with Johnson saying, “Every single day I wake up grateful….” in his Instagram caption of the pair following the ceremony.

Cavallari got her first hint of fame in 2004, when she was cast in the reality television series Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County. A year later, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. She has since starred in multiple television shows. Cutler and Cavallari married in 2013 but announced their split after 10 years together on April 27th, 2020 as a result of “two people growing apart”, says Cavallari.

It was surprising to fans of Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore when news broke that they were getting married, especially because of their obvious age gap. Nevertheless, it wasn’t meant to last and after nine years together, they went their separate ways.

Demi Moore recently released her memoirs including the inside scoop about her marriage to Kutcher. She claims that he wanted them to involve a third into their private life and that he eventually wasn’t faithful to her.

In 2010, Kim and Kris met while filming “Kourtney & Kim Take New York” whereafter they soon started dating. News broke about their relationship like wildfire after Kim was seen in the stands making heart signs with her hands at Kris. After a 90-day engagement, they got married on August 20th, 2011.

It was only 72 days into their life together before Kim filed due to what she called “irreconcilable differences”. With a prenup involved, one would think that their split would be relatively easy to get through, it took quite some time before the split was made official.

Adam and his wife Jackie met in 1999 following Adam’s success with ‘Happy Gilmore’ and ‘The Waterboy’. His next to-be success was ‘Big Daddy’ where he would meet Jackie on-set. She was chosen for a minor role where she would play the waitress that takes Sonny’s order for a root beer while in a sports bar with Julian (played by Dylan and Cole Sprouse).

They tied the knot by June of 2003. The couple now have two daughters, Sadie and Sunny, and live in Los Angeles, California. Adam said, “My kids give me the most joy, but there are life adjustments. I don’t go out to meet anyone after 9:30 at night. I eat dinner at six or seven,” he revealed. “If someone makes me stay out until 10:30 at night, I’m angry the entire next day because I’m exhausted.”

Faith Hill and Tim McGraw are probably the most loved couple in country music, and they continue to show us how adorable they are every time we see them together. These famed country artists met backstage at the New Faces music festival in Nashville in 1994.

At the time they began touring together in 1996, Hill was engaged to Scott Hendricks, but it was evident that the two stars had chemistry. McGraw told People, “I fought, and I fought and I fought to stay away from her as long as I could. I’m not going to go into detail, but it was a great tour, I can tell you that.” They have been married since 1996, and they have three children.

How Long: 2020-2020 (12 Days)
These two used to date for a brief time back in the late 80s, but Jon Peters never got over his crush, Pamela Anderson. He finally got the opportunity to marry her in 2020, however things didn’t work out quite as he had hoped.

Now at 74-years-old, Peters said, “There’s no fool like an old fool” after she broke things off once he paid her debts. She was broke and deep in debt, however, she claimed that he was too controlling. This is likely the shortest marriage on the list.

Renée Zellweger and Kenny Chesney

This unlikely couple decided to tie the knot in a romantic ceremony held on the Caribbean island of St. John after four months of dating. They decided to call it quits four months after their marriage. Zellweger said the reason behind their split was “fraud.”

She quickly explained that the term was “simply legal language and not a reflection of Kenny’s character.” Other than that, the pair have remained pretty tight-lipped about their relationship, but Renée has called it the “biggest mistake of my life.” It is said that Chesney’s 1999 song, “You Had Me from Hello,” was inspired by Renée’s famous line from the film Jerry Maguire.

How Long: 22 Years / Now divorced

This is perhaps an honorable mention, seeing as King recently divorced from his wife of 22 years of marriage, Shawn Southwick King. The pair married back in 1997, and they share two sons: Chance and Cannon. The reason between their split was cited by King as being “irreconcilable differences.”

Back in 2010, Larry filed for divorce because of the affair between Southwick and Hector Penate, their son’s baseball coach. Although Penate admitted to the affair, the couple decided to work things out. This was King’s seventh marriage, and Shawn’s second. One source told PEOPLE, “Larry is completely embarrassed and anguished by all of this.”

The pair had a tumultuous relationship from 2001 to 2003, but they ended up rekindling the flames three years later and became engaged. Their wedding was a big booze-fueled party thrown in Saint-Tropez, but their relationship after their wedding would be anything but a vacation.

The last straw was the movie Borat, in which Anderson plays herself in a scene. Sacha Baron Cohen, who made the film, told The Daily Beast’s The Last Laugh podcast that, “Kid Rock saw the movie, and I texted Pamela Anderson and asked, ‘How did it go? What did he think?’ And she texted back, ‘He’s getting divorced.’” As the story goes, in November 2006, Rock and Anderson raced each other to the courthouse. Rock beat her by 53 minutes.

Elton John and David Furnish have been together since 1993, and finally married when gay marriage became legal in England in 2014. You can often catch the couple lovingly posing for photos on the red carpet for events and fundraisers.

John met Furnish three years after getting clean, and told Parade, “I was attracted to David immediately. He had a real job, his own apartment, a car. He was independent. I didn’t need to take care of him. I thought, ‘God, this is new territory for me — someone wants to be with me just because he likes me.’ I knew he was the one because he is not afraid of me. He always tells me exactly what he thinks.”

Drew Barrymore was only 19 when she settled down with Welsh bar owner Jeremy Thomas after six weeks of dating in 1994. She told People, “We’re trying to figure out (living arrangements) now. Usually, people live together first and then get married. I guess we’re doing it the old-fashioned way. Kind of.”

During the late ’90s, this was only one of the many stunts Barrymore pulled that shocked the media. Her ex-husband told The National Enquirer, “I didn’t marry her because she was Drew Barrymore, I married her because she was cute!” The pair separated two months later.

Snoop met his current wife in high school during the late ’80s. Although they divorced in 2004, they remarried again four years later. In a 2013 interview with Queen Latifah, he confessed, “Because you gotta understand the turmoil and stuff that I put her through, in my journey on becoming successful.”

He continued, “Because I had no understanding of how I was doing her, how I was hurting her, and how I was betraying myself, until I became a man and realized that I had to love this woman who loved me and had my kids, and put my life in perspective and let my music and my business be secondary.”

They soon called it off shortly after, but remained a couple. Oprah revealed that it was because marriage was too typical for their unique relationship. She told Access Hollywood, “If you ever interviewed him, he would tell you that had we married, we would not be together today. Because he’s a traditional man and this is a non-traditional relationship.”

Bradley Cooper and Irina Shayk had been together since the srping of 2015 following her breakup with Christiano Ronaldo. By March of 2017, they welcomed their daughter, Lea De Seine Shayk Cooper into the world, all the while keeping their relationship out of the public eye.

Following the success of the box office hit, “A Star Is Born”, rumors began swirling that there was a love connection between Cooper and Lady Gaga despite their consistent denial of such allegations. Eventually, the unwanted media attention broke them apart amongst other things causing them to split in 2019.

Tina Turner married German music producer Erwin Bach in 2013, but they’ve been dating since 1985. When the couple did meet for the first time, they started their relationship off as just friends and eventually began dating after a few months of getting to know each other.

Their relationship was shocking to the public as there is a staggering 16-year age gap between them. Turner told Hello! magazine, “It’s that happiness that people talk about, when you wish for nothing, when you can finally take a deep breath and say, ‘Everything is good.’ It’s a wonderful place to be.” They exchanged their vows on the beach of Lake Zurich in Switzerland.

Yes, at one point, the King of Rock ’n’ Roll’s daughter was married to award-winning actor Nicolas Cage. The pair met at Johnny Ramone’s birthday party in 2000, and apparently, there was an undeniable spark between the two. They dated for two years on and off until they married in 2002.

Their wedding took place in Hawaii in August, and three months later, Presley was handed papers. Although they separated, Presley has said that the two remain good friends, and when asked what brought them together in the first place, she responded, “It looked attractive like I could be equal. Similar situations, similar backgrounds.”

Dolly Parton and Carl Dean

Although she sang about “Jolene” taking her man, Dolly Parton has had her husband, Carl Dean’s heart for over five decades. Dolly Parton and her husband met in 1964, and they married two years later. They met on Parton’s first day in Tennessee at a laundromat.

Carl Dean drove by in his white pickup truck, and he stopped and told her she was going to get a sunburn in her outfit. Parton told People magazine, “They say that opposites attract, and it’s true. We’re completely opposite, but that’s what makes it fun. I never know what he’s gonna say or do. He’s always surprising me.”

This couple may have had a brief breakup in 2013, but they reunited and found a way to make it work again. They’ve been a couple since 1998, apparently thanks to their “very open relationship,” and they have some solid advice for other couples.

Jones said, “It’s a long road and I think people today are so quick to throw in the towel on marriage. You have to give it your best shot and not give up when the first problem arises, because that won’t be the last problem. There will be many more down the road.”

The Seinfelds have been married since Christmas Day, 1999. Before meeting Jerry Seinfeld, Jessica Sklar was married to Eric Nederlander for just two months. Sklar allegedly wanted to separate from Nederlander after meeting comedian Jerry Seinfeld at a New York City gym.

On November 6, 1999, Seinfeld proposed to Sklar in a trendy SoHo restaurant with a shockingly large Tiffany diamond. They were married seven weeks later. These days, they have a daughter, Sascha Seinfeld, and two sons, Julian Kal Seinfeld and Shepherd Kellen Seinfeld. Jerry continues to work on Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee while Sklar runs the GOOD+ Foundation.

The frontman of Guns N’ Roses, Axl Rose, married model Erin Everly in 1990. The couple decided to say “I do,” at a wedding ceremony held at Cupid’s Chapel in Las Vegas. Rumor has it that there was a dispute between Rose and another famous rock star over Everly.

There was a fight between Rose and David Bowie after he tried to make a move on her. Everly and Rose stayed married for 10 months, but they decided to separate in January 1991. He explained, “Sometimes we treated each other great, because the children in us were best friends. But then there were other times when we just f***ed up each other’s lives completely.”

Freddie Prinze Jr. and Sarah Michelle Gellar

Perhaps the most famous couple that emerged from the early 2000s, Freddie Prinze Jr. and Sarah Michelle Gellar began dating in 2000. They walked down the aisle in Mexico a year later, and they have two children together.

Prinze Jr. said during an AOL BUILD panel in 2016 that, “We were fortunate enough to be at the right times in our lives where we both wanted something serious and it worked. So, we’re lucky, but we also work very hard at it. It’s not just dumb luck, it’s work.”

They are solidified in history for playing the iconic couple from Scooby-Doo, Fred and Daphne, in the 2002 live-action film.

Jennifer Lopez and Cris Judd

The relationship between JLo and Cris Judd followed JLo’s very public relationship with Puffy, aka Puff Daddy, aka Diddy. Lopez and Judd met in Spain in 2000, and in September 2001, Lopez decided to settle down by tying the knot with her former backup dancer. It was her second marriage.

Us Weekly reported that Judd said about the marriage, “You know, it’s very tough. Your privacy is breached. You’re no longer a normal person. (Our wedding) was a circus. I think several people got arrested trying to climb up a mountain … trying to sneak in. We actually rented the airspace.”

The former Chicago Bull has made a lot of exciting fashion choices over the years. One of the more eye-catching outfits includes the wedding dress he wore to a book signing for his 1996 autobiography. Speaking of eye-catching, Rodman married Baywatch star Carmen Electra in a Las Vegas wedding in 1998.

His publicist questioned whether Rodman had been “deeply intoxicated” at the time, but the couple confirmed that they were deeply in love. They dissolved their marriage, which took place on November 14, 1998, just nine days later. Electra told People, “It’s easy to get caught up in a moment. You think it’s romantic, but then you realize, ‘God, we did it in Vegas?’ It’s like getting a cheeseburger at a fast-food restaurant.”

Mario Lopez and Ali Landry first met at the 1998 Miss Teen USA pageant, and after they broke up and reunited, Landry gave him an ultimatum — Landry told Lopez he either had to propose or move on. Well, during his bachelor party, Lopez allegedly cheated on her, and they split two weeks after their wedding.

He wrote in his book, Just Between Us, “I wasn’t in love. The thoughts came streaming in, but it was too late. My misgivings reared their ugly heads, and I knew I should have broken things off with her before I strayed.”

Two weeks after their French Polynesian wedding in Bora Bora, the couple released a statement that continues to baffle us years later. They decided not to move forward with a wedding in the U.S., saying, “After much consideration and discussion, we have jointly decided that we will forgo having a legal ceremony as it is not necessary to define our relationship further.”

How Long: 9 days
Almost a single week after Cher’s divorce from Sonny Bono was finalized, she married Allman in a hotel room in Las Vegas. It is said that Cher filed to dissolve the marriage nine days after their small ceremony, due to Allman’s love for his vices. This couple didn’t completely go their separate ways, though.

They came together again only a month later, decided to stay together, had a son, and put out an album together called Two the Hard Way. They decided to part for good in 1977. He said of their split, “There was no future for us, because she has that constant paranoia of (my) going back to alcohol.”

How Long: 55 hours
This perhaps was the beginning of Britney Spears’ string of scandals throughout her career. After a very public breakup with her male counterpart, *NSYNC’s Justin Timberlake, Spears married childhood friend Jason Alexander in 2004. They married in a Las Vegas chapel, and it lasted about 55 hours.

The pair claimed that it was the Las Vegas environment that led them down the aisle. Jason Alexander admitted, “She just came out and asked me. She was like, ‘Well, let’s get married.’ And I was like, ‘Sure. You know, let’s do this.’ … I went with my feelings. I was in love with her … I feel like she felt the same way.”

One Tree Hill fans went berserk when they found out that Sophia Bush and Chad Michael Murray were getting married. The couple exchanged endearing handwritten vows during a ceremony in April 2005, but decided to split shortly after. As for working on the show with an ex-boyfriend?

Bush told Us Weekly, “I can’t say there are no hard feelings. I feel hurt, humiliated, and brokenhearted.” Their relationship never recovered from their separation. Bush told Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live in 2014, “We were two stupid kids who had no business being in a relationship in the first place. To all the other co-stars who’ve worked it out, more power to you.”
