Garry Turner has been the happy owner of this record since 1999, owing to a rare medical ailment known as Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome — a connective-tissue disorder characterized by skin loosening and hypermobile joints. It can be a little strange to look at, but no one can compete.

This means that Mr. Turner can extend the skin on his tummy to 6.25 inches without feeling any pain. The British sideshow performer was a part of The Circus of Horrors in 2005. At least he’s found a way to capitalize on it.

Certain records cannot be beaten because some people are born with a unique characteristic or physical attribute that no one else can equal (see Mr. Turner and his stretchy skin).

Other times, it’s a matter of finding someone willing to go through a lot of discomfort and/or adorn oneself with several piercings, like Elaine Davidson did. The Brazilian has a total of 462 piercings on her body, including 192 on her face and 214 in her genital area.

McDonald’s addicts may be found all over the world, but none compare to Donald Gorske of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. The 67-year-old, dubbed the “Big Mac aficionado,” has consumed a remarkable 28,788 Big Macs in his lifetime.

He maintains that the Big Mac accounts for 90-95 percent of his entire solid food consumption and that he consumes 14 of these burgers every week. Mr. Gorske, who is 6’2 and weighs 185 pounds, claims to have a cholesterol level of 140.

It’s astonishing how much usage a rubber band can get from the ordinary person for something so simple and seemingly meaningless. Joel Waul set his record in 2008 after creating a 9,032-pound giant rubber band ball and earning a berth in the Guinness World Records.

Mr. Ward utilized 700,000 rubber bands of various diameters to construct his 6 foot, 7-inch ball, dubbed “Megatron.” We can’t even begin to imagine how long it took him to make this thing or what inspired him to make it in the first place, but you have to admit: it is impressive.

Many gym-goers and yoga practitioners are familiar with the plank posture. It’s a basic enough posture — simply perform a push-up but rest on your forearms rather than your hands.

The hard aspect is holding it, as your abdominals may rapidly get fatigued. Unless you’re China’s Mao Weidong, who held a plank for eight hours and one minute in 2016.

Given that individuals all around the world have managed to make gargantuan-sized foods ranging from doughnuts to Doritos, it’s no wonder that food has its own category in the Guinness World Records.

Tony Glover of North Yorkshire, England, set a world record in 2014 by growing the biggest onion ever recorded, weighing 18 pounds, 11.84 ounces. Can you image how many tears you’d shed if you cut that thing?

Sword swallowing is a skill that requires the performer to slide a sword via the mouth, down the esophagus, and into the stomach. Despite its name, the act may be accomplished with a variety of items, including, it appears, a Dewalt jackhammer.

We know this because in 2007, Thomas Blackthorne sword-swallowed an 83-pound-and-12-ounce jackhammer, retaining the full weight of the hammer and bit for more than three seconds. The achievement won him a world record for eating the heaviest thing with a sword.

Many individuals bite their nails – some do it because they’re too busy to use nail clippers, while others do it because they’re restless or upset. Lee Redmond certainly does not have one of these issues, as she has spent 30 years extending her nails out, beginning in 1979!

If you sum together the length of all her fingernails, her nails are 28 feet and four inches long. That’s a World Record, and it’s a big one. We imagine it must be pretty hard to do anything with those nails though.

As you might think, the largest memorabilia collection has its own category in Guinness World Records. People will acquire and store everything and everything, and their stockpiles may become quite amazing!

Louis Georgiou of the United Kingdom, for example, possesses 2,111 items of Transformers memorabilia! However, there is a Guinness World Record for the greatest collection of Guinness World Records memorabilia! Martyn Tovey of Radstock (also in the United Kingdom) has 2,164 one-of-a-kind pieces.

Guinness World Records is chock-full of statistics documenting hefty lifts of various things by men, women, and children. But when it comes to the largest weight carried by a human beard, Antanas Kontrimas of Lithuania holds the record.

In 2013, Mr. Kontrimas lifted 63.80 kg with his beard. He’s also managed to retain a human’s weight with his beard. That’s a lot of hair fibers!

People’s bodies are capable of astonishing feats. Such abilities can be seen on exhibit after years of serious training, often at sports events such as the Olympics.

Many people spend their whole lives preparing for one dive, one gymnastic routine, one lift, or, in the case of Mr. Paul Hunn, one burp. In 2009, Hunn let out a 109.9 decibel burp. To put it in context, Hunn’s burp is louder than a whole symphony.

Sporting an amazing beard or a clever mustache is all the rage these days, and for good reason. After all, the term “beard” denotes distinction among normal males.

So, while some gentlemen choose to be mysteriously clean-shaven, Ram Singh Chauhan from Jaipur, India chose the opposite path, letting his mustache to grow for over 37 years. As a result, he grew a 14-foot mustache, setting a World Record in 2010 that he still holds today.

When they eat, we all know someone who looks more like an insane animal than a person in the twenty-first century. But, as it turns out, they might be able to make a living as a competitive eater.

Elite professional eaters may easily earn $500,000 per year from victories and sponsorships (food for thought, eh?). Michelle Lesco, a competitive eater, set a world record for speed eating when she ate a dish of pasta (100 grams with sauce) in 26.69 seconds.

Many individuals throughout the world have had to turn to home exercises amid the COVID-19 pandemic’s quarantine lockdowns, with some obtaining great results. However, they would have a long way to go to equal what Tazio Gavioli can achieve.

With 36 repetitions, the Italian owns the world record for consecutive pinky pull-ups. So, while we applaud your one-arm pull-up, you still have a long way to go to impress us, friend.

That’s precisely what Rise Brands accomplished in Columbus, Ohio, in 2017, when they built a paddle 11 feet, 7.8 inches tall and six feet, 7.8 inches broad. We’re quite sure that’s not the standard size.

Beards are more than simply fashionable facial ornaments that make every man seem 1000 times better. They also have utilitarian reasons, such as serving as a nest for rescued birds or as a convenient spot to keep items such as dental pictures.

In 2018, Joel Strasser stuffed 3,500 toothpicks into his beard. It took three hours and thirteen minutes, but he got his name in the Guinness World Records for his efforts!

There are many people that have many tattoos. Some even build up a tattoo ‘sleeve,’ covering their arm(s) and/or leg(s) with permanent ink. Even individuals who are tattooed have nothing on Lucky Diamond Rich, better known as Gregory Paul McLaren.

The New Zealander has spent over 1,000 hours having tattoo artists alter his body, including having his earlobes lengthened and his teeth replaced with silver veneers. We admire his immense commitment and apparent lack of feeling pain.

Many of us would fail to shoot an arrow a reasonable distance with our hands, let alone our feet! However, some people are simply better at archery than the typical person.

Brittany Walsh is an acrobatic archery Guinness World Record holder as well as a “solo hand balancing artist.” Walsh launched an arrow 40 feet and 4.64 inches using just her feet in 2018!

When it comes to spinning a hula hoop, it appears that you either have it or you don’t. But, like everything else, mastering hula hooping may take a lot of practice. But how much practice did Getti Kehayova need to spin a hula hoop 17 feet in diameter?

Kehayova, it turns out, employed a protective vest to spin the hoop and nearly fractured a couple ribs in her quest to achieve a new record. She did, however, set a record by spinning the big hoop at least three times.

A humanoid vehicle is one that has a body form that is designed to imitate the human body. Many individuals have attempted to build humanoid cars throughout the years, but none have been as large or as remarkable as Japan’s Sakakibara Kikai’s Mononofu.

The enormous vehicle is 28 feet tall and weighs seven tons. Consider a Transformer in its ‘natural’ form. The vehicle’s name, ‘Mononofu,’ translates to ‘Samurai Warrior,’ and it took six years to develop.

Many of the records in Guinness World Records are totally insane, which tells you something about the person(s) who set them. Who would gladly let a swarm of bees to rest on them for an extended period of time? Gao Bingguo, to be precise.

Back in 2015, a Chinese beekeeper broke a new Guinness World record by coating his body with around 1.1 million crawling bees weighing a whopping 109kg (240lbs). He had been stung over 2,000 times, and his body temperature had risen to more than 60 degrees Celsius (140 degrees Fahrenheit).

PDA – public displays of affection – is not for everyone. Especially if it features a pair kissing for an extremely long time. But we’ll overlook that for the sake of a world record attempt.

But if you want to break the record, you’ll need some real stamina, because the current world record is held by Ekkachai and Laksana Tiranarat of Thailand, who completed the race in 58 hours, 35 minutes, and 58 seconds.

Anyone who has taken a road trip with a large family or group of friends understands how claustrophobic it can be – especially if you’re driving in a small car.

We suppose none of the 41 passengers that squeezed inside a Toyota Rav 4 at the Toyota Centre Krasnoyarsk Zapad (Russia) in Krasnoyarsk, Russia, were claustrophobic. They would not have been able to establish this strange but still remarkable world record otherwise!

Congenital Generalized Hypertrichosis is a very rare skin disorder that causes hair overgrowth over 98 percent of male bodies (except the palms and soles) and modest and asymmetric hair overgrowth in females.

Victor Gomez, Gabriel Ramos Gomez, Luisa Lilia De Lira Aceves, and Jesus Manuel Fajardo Aceves are four members of a family of 19 in Mexico, spanning five generations, who are all affected by the illness.

There are many heroic men and women who have achieved Guinness World Records, but none come close to Felix Baumgartner — the first and only human being to break the sound barrier in freefall.

To give you a sense of how much of a legend Baumgartner is, on 14 October 2012, he soared to the stratosphere in a helium balloon and then jumped from the balloon back to Earth while wearing a customized suit. He also set world records for skydiving an estimated 24 miles and attaining an estimated high speed of 843.6 mph, or Mach 1.25, in the process.

Humans come in many forms and sizes, but only one guy can claim to be the tallest human alive. Sultan Kösen, who is 8 feet 2.82 inches tall, is that guy.

According to Guinness World Records, he is the seventh tallest man in history and one of just ten people who have reached 8 feet or taller.
Kösen’s growth is the consequence of acromegaly, which is caused by a tumor in his pituitary gland. He walks on crutches because of his illness.

Edward Nino Hernandez, from Colombia, stands 72.10 cm – around 2 feet and 4 inches tall – and weighs only 22 pounds. Mr. Hernandez has hypothyroidism, a disease that has hindered his growth.

“I win the world with my grin! My attraction is that I constantly share my wide grin with everyone,” Hernandez told UPI. “I am capable of accomplishing everything I set my mind to. Everything is conceivable…Size and height are irrelevant! I want people to meet the real me: tiny in stature but enormous in heart!”

Remember that game you used to enjoy with your friends in swimming pools? You’d all take turns underwater holding your breath, each time aiming to best the previous time. Most individuals would struggle to stay underwater for more than a minute, but most people aren’t skilled freedivers like Aleix Segura Vendrell.

The Spaniard owns the record for the longest consciously held breath, at 24 minutes and 3.45 seconds. However, we are a little worried about the title of this record. Does that mean there is also a record for longest time breath held involuntarily? That sounds pretty serious!

Have you ever seen videos of martial arts students and masters shattering bricks and other heavy items with their fists? Isn’t that impressive? Lisa Dennis of the United Kingdom decided to take things a step further by shattering a ton of roof tiles in one minute. To be precise, there are 923 tiles.

Only two tiles from the stack Dennis struck throughout the one minute time period did not shatter during the whole attempt. Those must have been some very stubborn roof tiles.

You would assume that having more than ten fingers and ten toes is something you’d only see in a science fiction movie, but it turns out that polydactylism is a very unusual but very real oddity in humans. Polydactyly is sporadic, which means it happens without a known cause.

However, certain cases may be caused by a genetic flaw or an underlying hereditary ailment. Devendra Suthar of India has the most fingers and toes of any living human on the earth.

Pizza is consistently rated the world’s most popular food, and for good reason. It’s really incredible, and anyone who claims otherwise is insane. Of course, some individuals enjoy it more than others.

It appears that Dovilio Nardi, Andrea Mannocchi, Marco Nardi, Matteo Nardi, and Matteo Giannotte enjoy it the most. A pizza with a total surface area of 1,261.65 m2 (13,580.28 ft2) was produced by the quintet. The pizza was dubbed “Ottavia,” which is a Roman term that means “eighth son.”

A weekend at the shore with family and friends usually entails constructing a sandcastle – or struggling to build a half-decent one. We’ve got the usual tools of a small bucket and maybe a flag if we’re feeling particularly fancy.

We don’t ordinarily have a staff of 12 sculptors and eight technicians spending eight hours a day for three and a half weeks to create a 57 ft 11 in tall sandcastle like Skulptura Projects GmbH did. It required 11,000 tonnes of sand mixed just with water to accomplish, and it was finished in June 2019.

Tightrope walks may be a disturbing experience for the audience since they typically take place at considerable heights, and the performer may choose not to use a safety harness.

Russian Oxana Seroshtan wisely opted to walk a tightrope at a safe height for her effort to achieve a world record while wearing heels. She broke the previous record by walking in high heels for 24 feet and 7.2 inches.

Throwing plungers at people would undoubtedly win the title for the most odd record. However, it may speak to Gerhard Doni’s inventiveness, as he was the one who came up with the record attempt in the first place.

In 2010, the German managed to toss (and stick) 15 rubber-cup plungers to individuals in one minute, beating his own record by one plunger. We think that’s pretty impressive, all things considered.

Bruce Lee was a fantastic martial artist who could pull off some ridiculous moves, like a two-finger push-up. We’re sure Lee was impressed with Wang Weibao’s track record.

In 2008, a Chinese guy managed to pull himself fully off the ground on two fingers on each hand and remain there for an astonishing 19.23 seconds! The record has stood since 2008, giving you an idea of how outstanding Weibao’s record is.

Dimitri Panciera would be rich if ice cream dealers permitted you to put as many scoops on a cone as you wanted for a predetermined fee. In 2018, he broke his own record by fitting 125 scoops of ice cream onto a single cone. Dimitri, teach us your secrets!

There must be something in how he balances the ice cream. Or maybe he has to freeze the ice cream to a certain temperature or consistency before fitting them all on such a small cone. We aren’t sure, but we wish someone would give us a giant ice cream cone.

Has anyone ever expressed concern about your snoring? Perhaps you have a partner whose snoring causes the entire home to tremble. Spare a thought for Kre Walkert’s boyfriend, as well as Walkert herself.

The Swede had apnea and recorded peak values of 93 dBA while sleeping at Rebro Regional Hospital in Sweden on May 24, 1993. Snoring is caused by variances in lung capacity and throat shape, according to research.

Guinness World Records is full of strange achievements, but it also includes some lovely and inspirational records. Consider the case of Charles Bungert. After weighing in at 193.96 kg, the American became the heaviest person to ever complete a marathon in 2013. (427 lb 9 oz).

Bungert finished the Los Angeles marathon in 8:23:40. Bungert broke the previous record set by Kelly Gneiting, a 400-pound sumo wrestler who finished the marathon in nine hours, 48 minutes, and 52 seconds in 2011.

Animals, in addition to humans, are listed in the Guinness Book of World Records. Otto, an English Bulldog, for instance, skated over the legs of 30 people on his skateboard in Lima, Peru, in 2015.

Otto set a record for the longest human tunnel gone through by a skateboarding dog in the process. Otto walked through the legs of each individual without being led or pushed in any way.

Wrapping big gifts for Christmas or a birthday may be difficult and time-consuming. All too frequently, sloppy wrapping might give the impression that you don’t care about the present, which is far from the case!

If only we had the talents of Coby Cotton, Cory Cotton, and Cody Jones, who established the record for the fastest time to wrap a PERSON in wrapping paper (team of two) at one minute and 58.9 seconds.

LEGO bits, believe it or not, can be used for more than simply hurting the bottom of your foot! This tower, which is literally every kid’s fantasy, was erected in front of Budapest’s St. Stephen’s Basilica and measures 114 feet, 11 inches tall.

The construction is made of thousands of bricks and is topped with a Rubik’s cube. It was built with the assistance of official Danish builders, primary school pupils, and the mayor of Budapest!

This next world record is a little out of the ordinary (pun intended). Mujtaba Hassan Mughal, a martial arts student from Pakistan, is featured here. Mughal broke the record for the most walnuts crushed with a nunchaku in one minute, breaking the previous record held by Samuel Sprague of the United States.

While Sprague crushed 62 nuts, Mughal annihilated 118. What an accomplishment!

When 66 surfers rode a wave together on one 42-foot surfboard at Huntington Beach, California, a Guinness World Record for most individuals riding on a surfboard was broken in 2015.

They surfed the enormous surfboard for 12 seconds on a wave while being cheered on by over 5,000 people at the iconic Huntington Beach Pier. According to reports, the previous record was established in 2005 by 47 surfers in Queensland, Australia.

We’ve previously seen a skating dog, so why not throw in a ball-catching one? Purin is a beautiful beagle, and in 2015, she officially set a new record for the most balls grabbed by a dog with the front paws in one minute, breaking her own record from 2014!

“The beagle from Tokyo can also skateboard, walk on two legs, […] and has many other outstanding talents,” according to Guinness World Records.

You didn’t think we’d feature world records achieved by dogs without including a cat, did you? Merlin, a cat, set a Guinness World Record in 2015 for the loudest purr.

While domestic cats generally send out 25db, Merlin’s peaks at 67.8db – the same loudness of a shower or even two persons conversing! Tracy Westwood, the owner, says she obtained the four-legged furball from a rescue.

Who would have guessed that spinning a coin could place you in the Guinness Book of World Records? However, a talent like that must take time to develop. After all, coin spinning must necessitate some kind of method, doesn’t it?

If that’s the case, Keita Hashimoto of Japan must have worked very hard to beat the world record for the longest coin-spin time, which stands at 25.71 seconds!

All ice cream fans, take note: you won’t want to miss this! Perhaps you’ll think we’re exaggerating, but we’ve discovered the world’s biggest scoop of ice cream, which has inevitably made its way into the Guinness World Records book!

This massive treat, weighing little more than 3,000 pounds, was manufactured in 2014 by the American dairy firm Kemps LLC in Cedarburg, Wisconsin. The strawberry-flavored confection stood five-foot-six-inches tall and was built out of around 733 ice-cream cartons.

It’s no secret that jumping on pogo sticks is a lot of fun. Even still, we’re surprised that someone achieved a record for the highest leap on a pogo stick. That being stated, a pogo pro named Biff Hutchinson made it into the Guinness World Records 2018 Edition.

Biff, who hails from Idaho, holds the record for the biggest pogo stick leap at 11 and a half feet – that’s twice the size of the typical person! Oh snap!? But, we’re a bit curious how they managed to measure that. Did he have to jump next to a measuring tape?

We’re not certain why somebody would type with their nose, since it looks a little painful, but if it gets you into the Guinness Book of World Records, who are we to decide? Meet Vinod Kumar Chaudhary, a resident of New Delhi, India.

With a time of 46.30 seconds, this person set a new record for quickest typing time with the nose in 2014. “Typing is my career as well as my love,” the guy says, “which encouraged me to try something fresh and amazing.”

“Slow and steady wins the race,” as the saying goes. So with that, we present to you Bertie the tortoise! Bertie defies expectations and is actually a speedy tortoise. We think the hare would be pretty intimidated if they’d faced off against Bertie in the old legend.

Bertie ran through an 18-foot track in 19.59 seconds with a remarkable pace of 0.92 feet per second at his home in Adventure Valley, a family adventure park in the United Kingdom. This little accomplishment earned him the title of world’s fastest turtle, shattering the previous record, which had not been challenged since 1977.

You’ve definitely heard of Guinness World Records – or, as it was more frequently called until 1999, the Guinness Book of World Records. Guinness World Records, first released in 1995, is an annual reference book that lists world records for both human achievements and nature extremes. Guinness World Records has since become the world’s best-selling copyrighted book, and with each revised release, we are exposed to more odd and mind-boggling records, much like the ones we’ve mentioned here!
