We don’t know about you, but we’re a bit tired of seeing the Hollywood A-listers looking so polished and perfect. After all, they’re people too – and thanks to the hordes of paparazzi, their more “human” moments are captured. Check out the funniest slips-ups happening at the most exclusive events in town.
You may embarrass yourself on a regular basis, but at least you’re not the only one. It’s time to bring the rich and famous back down to earth with a collection of their most goofy and awkward moments. It was always going to catch up on them eventually – but don’t take our word for it. Take a look at the red carpet mishaps that the papers miss out.
John Travolta Doesn’t Read the Signals
This awkward encounter says it all. At the Oscars in 2015, the Grease actor John Travolta looked a little too keen when he leaned into The Avengers actress Scarlett Johansson’s neck. It’s all the more jarring that we can’t see most of his body and makes us want to ask, just where did he come from?
But we don’t know what’s worse, the kiss he’s about to plant on her or her apparent total indifference to it. If you ask us, it looks as though he quickly went in for the kill before Scarlet could even react. At least that is what we hope – her ignoring his advances would be far more unbearable to accept!
Leslie Mann Can’t Keep Her Hands off Cameron Diaz
Actress Leslie Mann came out to have a good time for the Other Woman premiere in 2014. It looks like she either can’t hold her liquor, or she drank a little too much to keep it professional next to costar Cameron Diaz. Leslie may be a married woman, but that hasn’t stopped her wandering hand from grabbing Cameron’s butt.
But it might not be entirely uncalled for. Cameron has spoken about her strong connection to her costars Leslie and Kate Upton. “I love these women. They literally could not have been better partners, she admitted, adding, “We just had so much fun together.” Maybe there’s more between them than just professional respect.
Liang Jingke Learns the Pitfalls of Wearing a Form-Fitting Dress
Chinese actress Liang Jinke had a bit more of a dramatic evening than she had planned for the Venice Film Festival in 2016. Attending the premiere of The Light Between Oceans, her beautiful jade-colored gown was just a tad too long and tight, meaning that she couldn’t quite lift herself off the ground!
Luckily, a couple of onlookers were close by and quick to recover her as soon as possible. In his haste, one of them seems to have grabbed a part of Liang where he shouldn’t have, while the other awkwardly pulls her up from her arm. Such a red carpet mess has to go down in history as one for the books.
Lindsey Lohan Relives a Moment From Her Partying Days
Mean Girls actress Lindsey Lohan has endured her share of controversy. But in 2014 she made the headlines for a different reason, namely her awkward fall at a fancy Italian film festival. We’re sure she wasn’t all that pleased, especially after coming clean about her paranoia about cameras.
“My friends think I’m neurotic, but I will hear a flash of an iPhone camera, I will hear the shutter from a mile across the room. I will feel it,” she admitted. Oh well, at least her bad days were behind her at this point. But they did bring to mind the old Lindsey that used to fall out of bars and clubs, heavily intoxicated. We’ll call this a one-off.
Woody Allen Forgets Where He Is
Poor Scarlett Johannsen seems to be attracting all the wrong energy to herself at these black-tie events. In 2008, Director Woody Allen casts a lingering look at her “figure” as she stands beside her costar Penelope Cruz. It feels like a poorly-judged moment to look at the actress so unsubtly.
They’re posing for photos at the Los Angeles premiere for Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Woody’s then-recent romantic comedy-drama. But, it’s all roses between Scarlet and Woody. In the past, the actress has sprung to his defense when he’s been met with accusations. But does it make this moment any less uncomfortable? We’re not sure.
Southpark Creators Are the Belles of the Ball
The creators of cult TV animation South Park weren’t afraid to mix things up at the 2000 Oscars. Trey Parker and Matt Stone dressed to the nine’s in glamorous, figure-flattering gowns. Trey opted for an emerald-green number that flowed in the wind, whose plunging neckline ended at the waist.
Matt, on the other hand, took the opportunity to let his inner princess out. Only pink satin would do for him that day, as would a sweetheart neckline. Where Trey was feeling daring, Matt wanted to keep it cute and classy. Perhaps it’s worth noting that they weren’t sober for the first Oscars of the turn of the century.
Emma Thompson Lost All Social Boundaries
In 2018, British actress Emma Thompson lost her cool when she saw actress and costar Hayley Atwell at the film premiere for The Children Act in London, England. Hayley looks a bit taken aback but, being a good sport, just went along with it. We’re not sure how much of this is an act though as, judging by Emma’s facial expression, she’s taking it pretty seriously.
She isn’t so much embracing the actress as she is squeezing or claiming her. Something about this moment just seems animalistic; we can almost imagine the Brit grunting and trying to take her to a lair. As is typical for Emma, she doesn’t care what other people think, she’ll act as she pleases!
Angelina Jolie and That Leg
Never forget that at the Oscars in 2012, Angelina’s plus one wasn’t Brad Pitt, it was her infamous bare leg. She revealed the limb through the slit in her dress and a torrent of memes and internet jokes rained down. People chastised her for “trying too hard” on the night, joking that it really wasn’t a necessary pose.
It was such a talking point that it even opened its own Twitter account, @AngelinaJoliesL, which it writes that it “Stepped into my rightful place in history at the 2012 Oscars.” It garnered so much attention that the next day press ran amock with the leg, finding it funny how unaware Angelina was of what it looked like.
Sacha Baron Cohen Rubs Ryan Seacrest up the Wrong Way
Actor and comedian Sacha Baron Cohen was up to his old provoking antics when he came to the 2012 Oscars as his character from The Dictator. Masquerading as Grimsby, he asserted that he was carrying the ashes of a prominent man in politics, before spilling the suspicious substance on the red carpet.
The TV show host Ryan Seacrest was nearby and caught some of the “ashes” on his custom Burberry suit – but it was on purpose. Later in the night Sacha also interrupted Ryan’s interview with Lady Gaga by saying, “just want to give you a hug,” and “suits looking good.” It didn’t bring them closer together.
Emma Stone Is Super Awkward the Whole Night
It just wasn’t her day. Emma Stone was attending the premiere of La La Land in 2016 alongside the director Damien Chazelle and spent the whole night just being awkward. Especially when she went in for a three-way hug when he got up to receive an award – even though he was actually trying to kiss his girlfriend, Olivia Hamilton.
Damien wanted to celebrate his victory with his significant other, but Emma assumed he wanted to hug it out with her. She realized her error only after, with Damien and Olivia trying to comfort her for misjudging the situation. The whole thing was uncomfortable to witness and even today, we’re cringing on her behalf.
Helen Mirren Trips in Her Platform Heels
Dame Helen Mirren took a tumble on the red carpet stairs at the 65th Berlin International Film Festival Berlinale in 2015. She was wearing a long, lacy, bright green dress that unfortunately got caught in heels the wrong way. At 69 years old, she appeared to have mastered how to fall over with grace.
Of course, she might have tripped due to the platform heels she wore. She has kept it no secret that she always wears them to high-profile events due to the extra inches of height they provide. “I call them my secret weapon” she explained, remembering that, “$39 they cost me. And I always used to wear them to red carpet events.”
Elsa Hosk Has a Wardrobe Malfunction
The Swedish model and Victoria’s Secret Angel Elsa Hosk had a wardrobe malfunction at the Venice Film Festival in 2019. Her earring fell out and despite her stilettos, she managed to bend down and retrieve it in front of all the paparazzi. She even did it with a smile on her face.
That wasn’t all either. She had to negotiate how to bend down and receive it in a revealing thigh-high split skirt, too. And on top of that, she managed to fasten it back on her ear while in the crouched position. She tried to hide what she was doing under her hair but ultimately, managed to style it out impressively.
Bradley Cooper Is Hug-Attacked by a Stranger
Actors Bradley Cooper and Michael Pena were at the 20th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards at The Shrine Auditorium when a Ukrainian journalist ran at Bradley’s legs and clung to them. Taking place in Los Angeles in 2014, the serial prankster Vitalii Sediuk tried his best to get a reaction but the actor handled it like a champ.
Bradley laughed it off with a more cautious Michael Pena, even laying a friendly hand on the shoulder of the prankster. It’s still not entirely clear how he managed to get in and on to the red carpet once more as he is a repeat offender, but he succeeds in shaking things up on a regular basis regardless.
Emma Thompson Falls Over During a Hand and Footprint Ceremony
It’s 2013, and during her symbolic Hand and Footprint Ceremony at the TLC Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, Emma Thompson lost her balance and toppled over. She had a good sense of humor about it, laughing off the ordeal and even poking fun at herself some more.
She dramatically sprawled out on the red carpet after the slip-up, already emotional from Tom Hanks’ touching speech. He blurted: “We wish to convey the following message to Emma: Please, Emma, leave England. Come here. Live with us. Live amongst us. Los Angeles and Hollywood need your sense and sensibility.” It might have contributed to Emma’s lightheadedness.
Jennifer Lawrence Groans in Agony
American Hustle actress Jennifer Lawrence was a little less than pleased at the Hunger Games: Catching Fire world premiere in London. Pictured in 2013, she finds it hard to stay composed when one of her costars accidentally steps on her toes. Considering the stilettos she was wearing, it was a tough night all around for her feet!
She groans in agony at the painful accident while her female costar Jena Malone expresses surprise and concern. Her male costar, on the other hand, is trying to keep it together for the team. Just smile and wave, the paparazzi won’t notice!
Ashley Graham Tries to Style It Out
American plus-size model and television presenter Ashley Graham had a shaky time at the Time 100 Gala in New York in 2017. She was full of confidence and energy as she posed for cameras, but the train of her unusual dress almost got the better of her when she went to walk away.
By some stroke of luck, the Vogue cover-girl managed not to fall over entirely in front of the paparazzi. Her ankle bent in the process but she managed to stay on her feet, at least. Photos captured the moment, but at least she wasn’t completely flat on her face like an actress we mention a little further down…
Hayden Panettiere’s Dress Hides the Worst of It
American actress Hayden Panettiere had a red carpet mishap in 2014 when her Tom Ford gown got the better of her. Attending the Met Gala, she tripped when walking down the stairs of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the annual location for Met Gala’s. After all, the carpet on the stairs isn’t stuck down – it’s temporary!
Ushers rushed in quickly to help the starlet, but she managed to steady herself without assistance. She wagged her fingers at the camera once she found her balance, joking that they shouldn’t have captured the moment. Luckily, she didn’t take herself too seriously and loudly laughed off the whole situation.
Jools Holland Does His Cockroach Impression
Pianist, composer, and television presenter Jools Holland is best known for hosting his eponymous BBC show Later… with Jools Holland. We’re used to seeing the British musician engaging in serious music or interviewing artists, which is why it’s all the more amusing to see him at the 2014 GQ Men of the Year Awards, lying on his back.
Looking particularly helpless, he had, unfortunately, tripped up on the seam of the red carpet that was poorly taped to the ground. But he was a good sport about it – when he got back up he took long and dramatic bows to the cameramen, smiling happily as he did so.
Jennifer Lawrence Trips In Front of Everyone on the Stage Steps
A glamorous Jennifer Lawrence was especially hard to miss at the 2013 Academy Awards, not just because of her gorgeous dress. As she was ascending the stairs to receive an Oscar for Best Actress, she miscalculated her step and fell forward, before burying her head in her hands out of embarrassment.
Upon receiving the award she poked fun at her high-profile mishap. The audience gave her a standing ovation for her achievement, to which she replied, “You guys are just standing up because you feel bad that I fell, and that’s really embarrassing.” It seems the actress has a natural knack for those awkward red carpet moments.
Heidi Klum Shouldn’t Have Trusted Her Co-Host
While hosting the 2008 Primetime Emmy Awards in Los Angeles, television personality, model, and actress Heidi Klum took a very public tumble during an unrehearsed skit. She acted the part of someone fainting and falling into comedian Tom Bergerson’s arms, but found herself on the floor instead.
Unfortunately, her co-host Tom didn’t manage to catch her in time and she had nothing to soften her fall. Not to mention, this happened while she was on stage with all eyes on her. It was a moment she probably wanted to quickly forget, but the large bruise on her right hip saw to it that she didn’t.
Jennifer Garner’s On-Stage Blunder
Daredevil actress Jennifer Garner managed to save herself just in time when she slipped right when approaching the mic. She was o the stage, ready to announce who had won the Oscar for Best Soundtrack in 2006 when her heel got stuck in the Michael Kors dress she was wearing.
She pulled a series of funny, surprising facial expressions before continuing with the ceremony, but that didn’t stop the crowd from remembering it. What could have been a lot worse and is for many people one of the biggest fears, the audience talked about it for the rest of the night.
Cara Delevigne Takes a Spilled Drink Too Far
Model-turned-actress Cara Delevigne had both her legs in the air at the GQ Men Of The Year Awards in 2014. She almost spills her drink on fashion designer Jonathan Saunders, before succumbing to the moment they tumble over together. She certainly wasn’t shy about the situation despite the onslaught of camera flashes.
She went for an elegant, gothic look for the black-tie event, while Jonathan was wearing a sharp suit. Cut to 5 seconds later, and they’re rolling around on the floor in a confused mess! Jonathan was left a little red in the face, but Cara laughed it off and went looking for more fun.
Jessica Alba Is Irritatingly Gorgeous Even When She Falls
It’s not enough that Sin City actress Jessica Alba is one of the most beautiful people on the planet. Even when she’s tripped up in front of rows of cameras she still manages to make it look good. We were hoping for something a bit more relatable, but 2006 Jessica at the Teen Choice Awards isn’t gonna give it to us.
Sure, she looks a little bit awkward here as she tries to find her feet again… but can you remember the last time you were scrambling on the floor and managed to flash a big Hollywood smile? All we know is, Ms. Alba makes it look easy.
Adam Levine Protects Behati Prinsloo’s Modesty
Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine was the perfect gentleman towards his wife, Victoria Secret model Behati Prinsloo when she was left exposed on the red carpet. She suffered an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction at the 2015 Vanity Fair Oscar Party in Beverly Hills, as her dress was rather “loose” around the chest.
But what should you expect when the only thing holding the gown up is a single piece of string around the neck. The dress was also the same color and tone of her skin, but we’re not sure if that made matters better or worse.
Tre Cool Doesn’t Do His Name Justice
Frank Edwin Wright, better known as Tre Cool, certainly lost his cool when he took a major tumble in 2019. As the drummer of Green Day, he’s had his fair share of women throwing themselves at him. But little did he expect he’d be falling – quite literally – head over heels himself.
He was exiting a chauffeur-driven car when the accident happened, arriving at the Europe Music Awards (EMAs) red carpet in November. Tre Cool’s a rockstar so he got over it pretty quick but, luckily for us, the photos will exist forever.
Resse Witherspoon and Felicity Jones Go Wrist to Wrist
At first glance, there’s nothing too strange happening here. Two actresses greet each other warmly and professionally at a black-tie event. But upon further inspection, we can see that they’re not actually shaking hands but rather gripping each other firmly by the forearm.
Clearly, the event worker pictured in the center is just as baffled as we are. We’re not quite sure what British starlet Felicity Jones or American actress Reese Witherspoon had going through their heads. Maybe it was just an accidental nudge that got out of hand. However it may have started, we think it’s totally adorable.
Michael Cera Isn’t Just Awkward on Screen
This photo of comedic actor Michael Cera proves he’s just as goofy in real life as he is on the big screen. And to think, we thought he was acting all that time! At the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, he tripped over himself while posing for the cameras, while actress Catalina Sandino attempts to save the situation.
She isn’t hugely successful but points to her for trying. It’s more than we can say for the startled-looking star of Superbad, who appears to have frozen in embarrassment. He may be in Park City, Utah, for the festival but, he’s certainly one of the clumsier people in the Hollywood circuit.
Jennifer Lawrence Is Too Drunk to Care Right Now
She really has proven herself as the OG goofball of red carpets events. Actress Jennifer Lawrence was simply radiant at the Oscars in 2018. She went in a sequined pewter gown that had a fair share of weight to it. But after a few drinks, she really didn’t have the patience to politely trot around and find her seat.
With her white wine in hand, Lawrence hoisted up the skirt of her gorgeous Dior dress and proceeded to straddle the seat behind her. Is it just us, or does something about this photo bring to mind, Bridget Jones? Anyway, we can’t wait to see what she gets up to at the next red carpet event.
Jason Segal Needs to Get out of the Way
It’s not just about the photos that come out of the Oscars, or even just about the awards; it’s also about the experience. That’s why comedian and actor Jason Segal is a little perplexed at the sight of a tuxedo-donned security man with a vacuum strapped to his back.
This event personnel is doing a quick clean up, but while the 2012 Oscars are actually occurring. It feels like something that ought to wait until after the event, but this guy doesn’t care. He’s got a job to do and no celebrity, cameramen, or hoard of fans are going to stop him.
Petra Nemcova Doesn’t Take Herself Too Seriously
Czech model Petra Nemcova took her red carpet mishap like a champ – after all, it’s bound to happen to every star at some point. Her huge dress proved quite tricky to maneuver in Cannes, but she laughed the whole thing off. The irony of getting all glammed up for a high-profile event, only to trip up once you get there!
Luckily, she wasn’t left to fend for herself on the red carpet. Three security men were hovering nearby not just for safety, but also for an event like this. They helped Petra get back up and checked she was alright. It’s nice to know that even supermodels have clumsy moments at the worst of times.
Virginie Efiraget’s Co-Star Steps In
This is surely one of the more tender moments to have happened at the Cannes Film Festival in 2019. The Belgian-French actress Virginie Efiraget gets a helping hand from her costar Niels Schneider when her heel buckle comes undone. He stopped at the staircase where the wardrobe malfunction occurred and bent down to help her.
They were attending the screening of Sibyl, where they also shared a passionate kiss in front of the cameras. Luckily for her, Niels was on hand to help her fasten the shoe back on as it might not have been possible on her own. Her black off-shoulder sequined gown is considerably form-fitting.
Christoph Waltz Is as Perplexing as Ever
German-Austrian actor Christoph Waltz is Quentin Tarantino’s go-to for complex, multi-layered characters. Sometimes he’s funny, sometimes he’s serious – but he’s almost always mysterious. And he was no different here at the Cannes Film Festival in 2018 when he was spotted walking around so suspiciously.
Even he doesn’t look sure about what he’s doing. We don’t know if he’s hurt his leg, signaling to something, or pranking everyone. All we know is that his wife looked on, bemused, and we feel like we know even less about the actor than before.
Karolina Kurkova Has a Lucky Escape
The New York City Ballet’s grand gala in 2012 was an especially glamorous affair. Attendees dressed to the nines for the event, either in tuxedos or luxury couture. Unfortunately for Victoria’s Secret Angel Karolina Kurkova, her extravagant cape almost took her out when another attendee stepped on it.
The Czech model’s outfit was really quite impressive, and completely matched the scarlet red carpet of the grand gala. Both the multi-panel dress and the cape were monochromatic, and she opted for a more toned-down makeup look so it wasn’t so overwhelming. Nude lipstick and clear nail polish are good enough when you wear something like this!
Jennifer Garner Is Clownish at Red Carpet Events
Daredevil actress Jennifer Garner has two left feet if this article is anything to go by. It looks like she tripping up all over the place and here at the 2013 Oscar Awards Ceremony, she really should have learned from her previous mishap. Especially when wearing a form-fitting dress; watch where you’re going!
Her instinct was to stretch out her arms and hope to find some balance, which worked. We think that even if she had fallen, however, she wouldn’t have taken it so badly. Similarly to 2006 when her heel got caught in the Michael Kors dress she was wearing, she laughed it all away.
Alysia Reiner’s Gown Needs Constant Attention
American actress and producer Alysia Reiner looked like a regular Jessica Rabbit in the 2015 Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards. Best known for her role as Natalie “Fig” Figueroa in Orange Is The New Black, she turned up look the total opposite to how we usually see her in the hit Netflix drama.
The bright red, off-shoulder gown had a sweetheart neckline that made the actress look even taller. And as it was so cinched around the knees, Alysia really struggled to walk anywhere properly. It’s a shame the dress was designed to be seen and not worn, as it truly is gorgeous couture.
David Oyelowo Looks Too Good to Be Humble
A United Kingdom actor David Oyelowo was looking especially suave and sophisticated for the 2015 Academy Awards, and boy did he know it. Here he is showing off the efforts of his attention to detail, giving the cameras a glimpse of his matching maroon socks and patent loafers.
From the suit to the waistcoat to the bow tie, no expense was spared for David’s red carpet appearance. And for an occasion like this, there’s no time to be modest. He knows that this is his time in the spotlight and if he has to raise his leg every now and then to give the people a good enough shot, then he will!
Jon Hamm Gives the First Row a Treat
When Jon Hamm won himself an Emmy for Best Actor in a Drama Series in 2015, he finally achieved recognition for his role as Don Draper in Mad Men. But we doubt he imagined it was going to be like this when he went up to receive the award. He decided against using the stairs to the stage and, we expect, regretted it soon after.
Jon climbed onto the raised platform in a rather undignified way, we have to say. His tight blue suit didn’t allow for much flexibility, and as he crawled up to Tina Fey to accept the award, he did so to a sea of giggles. Jon even had to roll himself a little to get there. We’re pretty sure he that wasn’t on the agenda for the night. But at least he walked away with an Emmy!
Katy Perry Only Has Herself to Blame for Slipping on Cake
Popstar Katy Perry had an on-stage mishap in 2008 when she was performing at the MTV Latin America Awards. For a song finale, she jumps into a giant cake, but it looks like it wasn’t such an easy situation to get unstuck from. As she tries to clamber away from the mess, she slips straight back into it.
We’re surprised it was even given the go-ahead, considering how much of a health hazard it could be. Her smooth-soled dance shoes were no match for the slippery floor and left her – quite literally – with egg on her face. Luckily her backup bandmates were on stage to give her a much-needed helping hand up.
Camila Cabello Owns up to Her Blunder
Cuban-American Camila Cabello, unfortunately, suffered a bit of a wardrobe mishap while she was performing on-stage at the Grammys in 2019. She took the performance seriously – so seriously in fact, that her outfit malfunctioned during one of her songs. Her mini skirt was stuck around her waist and exposed more than intended.
While she was shocked at the time, she found it in herself to make fun of the situation later on Instagram by posting a photo of the moment. She even took to social media to explain why it happened, writing: “Yesterday right before I went on, a producer told me I was the first Latina ever to open the Grammys stage which made me REALLY have a fire in my belly for this performance.”
Ariana Grande Channels Her Inner Contortionist to Keep Her Skirt Down
When Ariana Grande was trying to have some picture-perfect moments at the 2012 Teen Choice Awards, her lightweight dress held her back. It had a poofy net lining and, unfortunately, was a bit too short for such a windy day. It kept trying to fly up in the air and risk exposing the singer.
As a result, Ariana had to pull the hem of her skirt firmly, and it wasn’t an easy task. The skirt wanted to pick up the wind from all angles, and gave the pop star a real “Marilyn Monroe moment.” The reality is, you can’t look as good as the 50s icon did over the vent. Ariana had to crouch all the way down in platform heels to try and control the situation.
Kristen Stewart’s Butter Fingers Can’t Save Her Award
During the 2009 MTV Music Awards, Twilight star Kristen Stewart lost her grip on the Golden Popcorn award for Best Female Performance. She had just given her acceptance speech when she turned to walk away with it and dropped it from the podium. It broke the statue, unfortunately, and left the actress rather embarrassed.
The statues are considerably heavy we’ve heard, which might go some way to explaining how she lost her grip on stage. That or her palms were sweating from the hot lights and the pressure of speaking to an audience. Either way. it’s got to be frustrating to have finally received recognition for your hard work, only to break the souvenir before you’ve even got it home.
Nicki Minaj’s Dress Splits Open on Stage
“Anaconda” singer Nicki Minaj had her worst nightmare realized when she was on-stage for the VMA-opening performance of “Bang Bang.” She was singing alongside Ariana Grande and Jessie J when the outfit malfunction happened, forcing her to drop the mic and cover herself up.
She was left open-mouthed; it was up to the other two to save the show. Her slinky black dress was also a last-minute wardrobe choice that she made in order to match with Ariana and Jessie’s black-and-white looks. It’s definitely the stuff of nightmares.
Katherine Heigl Holds It Together, Just
The Ugly Truth actress Katherine Heigl was all giggles at the ShoWest convention in Las Vegas in 2010. She was on stage speaking into the microphone after receiving an award for Female Star of the Year when her dress strap completely tore off. We can’t get over the timing of it!
Luckily, she was a good sport about it. She hurriedly attended to her loose strap and laughed at the whole situation. She even continued with her acceptance speech, all the while holding up one side of her dress in front of the audience and cameras.
Margot Robbie and Jonah Hill Were Lost for Words
The Wolf of Wall Street stars Margot Robbie and Jonah Hill had an awkward moment on stage together when they were presenting at the 2014 Golden Globes. They were supposed to be introducing a film clip from Martin Scorsese’s recent movie when the teleprompter fed them the wrong words.
Jonah admitted on stage, “I’m not going to lie to you, right now, they’ve put up the wrong stuff on the teleprompter.” Nervous Margot explained her personal embarrassment declaring, “I’ve never done this before, so I don’t want to improvise.” They were then given hard copies of the script they needed to read, swiftly moving on!
Tina Fey and Amy Poehler Struggle to Get to the Stage
Actresses Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were a mess when they climbed – quite literally – up the stairs for the Primetime Emmy Awards. They were asked to present the first award of the 2013 show, being held in Los Angeles. Their gowns, at least, were covering them up as they navigate to the stage.
If it wasn’t for the context, you’d be forgiven for assuming that this was a photo of people who’d had too much drink one night. Luckily, being comedic actresses as well, they didn’t take themselves too seriously after their embarrassing gaffe.
Princess Mary Saves Herself From a Nasty Fall
Denmark’s Crown Princess Mary looked like she was walking on hot potatoes during the Bambi 2014 media awards ceremony in Berlin, Germany. She had just been to the stage to receive her trophy for charity work when she fumbled on the stairs.
Descending from the stage, she was looking for her seat when the train of her dress caught on her evening heels. She managed to balance herself before anything too bad happened, but this stumble certainly broke her into a sweat for a minute.
Jennifer Lawrence Is Officially Accident-Prone
We hate to have to do it to you Jen, but you’re basically falling over at every black-tie event you go to. Pictured in a fluorescent pink number at the Screen Actors Guild Awards 2011, it seems the star’s towering heels got caught in the train of her gorgeous gown.
Luckily, someone close by bent down to take her heel out of her dress. She put one hand on his shoulder and still gave a big Hollywood grin to the cameras. We appreciate her professionalism, but we hope she didn’t puncture a hole in the dress!
Rami Malek Goes Down Like a Sack of Potatoes
Actor and producer Rami Malek didn’t get a long time to ride the high from winning an Academy Award in 2019. As he walked off the stage of the Oscars after receiving his Best Actor award, he misjudged his step and fell straight into the audience. It was a live broadcast but luckily for him, the camera had already panned away.
Rami was so startled, he even had to be dragged back up onto his feet, before the people surrounding him encouraged him to sit down. They brought medical attention to the scene, treating the actor from the front row. While he didn’t show any signs of injury later that night, Rami’s representatives refused to comment on the event.
Kristen Stewart Takes a Stand Against High Heels
She might have agreed to wear them at the beginning of the night – in front of her mirror at home, it might have seemed like a good idea. But once she was on the carpet and had to walk in the Louboutin’s, she really didn’t want to face the blisters tomorrow. She simply slipped them off in front of all the paparazzi.
She’s probably the only person we’ve seen walk the carpet in her bare feet. But we can’t help but respect the young actress for respecting her comfort and sacrificing her outfit – and height! She proceeded to march on up the Cannes festival stairs with her stilettos slung over her shoulder.
Yulia Rybakova Is Extremely Exposed
Russian plus-size model Yulia Rybakova had herself a real awkward situation in 2018 when the entire skirt of her red dress came clean off of her body. At the Cannes Film Festival, another fellow attendee accidentally stood on the train of her dress. When she walked away unaware it had become detached.
Once she realized she hurriedly rushed to pick it up, but the gentleman who inadvertently caused the disaster rushed to her aid. He grabbed the fabric from both sides and swung his arms around her waist to reattach it. She was obviously quite embarrassed, but at least she wasn’t completely alone!
John Travolta Doesn’t Understand Personal Space
It seems like no one told John Travolta that it is a weird thing to do. In a super cringy moment on TV, we had to witness his bizarre face touching of actress and singer Idina Menzel at the Oscars in 2015. He put his hands on her face in order to better mumble to her, but it didn’t come off well.
Even as Idina moved to face the Academy Awards audience, his hand remained firmly under her chin. Idina just smiled and went along with it as all Hollywood starlets learn to. John was called out for his weird behavior, as people found it to be inappropriate and invasive of her personal space.
Melissa Leo Made Academy Award History
American actress Melissa Leo won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2011, for her role in The Fighter. And at 50-years-old she had one of the more colorful acceptance speeches in the history of the Oscars. She wasn’t aware that she had been swearing and got quite a shock upon realization.
While she was accepting the award on the stage, she dropped the F-bomb – big no-go for the Oscars. And since the event airs live on television, there was nothing that could be done about it. Kirk Douglas did his best to drag her off the stage before she went off again, but by that point, she realized her blunder.
Kanye West Let Taylor Swift Finish
Who could forget the biggest jerk move on behalf of Kanye West back in 2009? He interrupted Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech at MTV’s Video Music Awards to give Beyonce a big unrequested shout out for her music video. And Beyonce just looked on aghast, clearly embarrassed to be in the situation.
Kanye shouted: “Yo, Taylor, I’m really happy for you, I’mma let you finish. But Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time! One of the best videos of all time!” His famous phrase “I’mma let you finish” has since gone down in history.
Stella McCartney Puts a Hole in RiRi’s Skirt
A-Listers filtered the red carpet at the “Charles James: Beyond Fashion” Costume Institute Gala, held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2014. But there was an awkward moment between fashion designer Stella McCartney and music mogul Rihanna, where Stella accidentally stuck her heel in RiRi’s skirt.
Stella even resorted to using Rihanna to stabilize herself as she tried to detangle from the situation. Kate Bosworth was next to them just witnessing the moment, making sure not to get involved. The upside is that if she accidentally ruined the outfit, Stella could give her one of her own designs!
Naomi Watts Almost Falls on Her Cast Members
At the 2015 Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards show, the star-studded cast of Birdman walked on stage to accept the award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. Actors Emma Stone, Amy Ryan, Zach Galifianakis, Edward Norton, and Naomi Watts went up to collect their trophy.
All was going well until Naomi almost slipped on the floor and into her cast members, resulting in this perfectly timed shot of everyone reacting to her gaffe. How comforting to know that even the beautiful and talented of Hollywood sometimes embarrass themselves in front of a theatre full of their peers.
Marion Cotillard’s Bend and Snap
At the Cannes Film Festival in 2018, french actress Marion Cotillard engaged in a rather skillful “bend and snap” motion while walking the red carpet. The “snap” in question being the closure on her earrings. One of the dangly pieces of jewelry had fallen out, and luckily she noticed.
Her gorgeous white jumpsuit was, however, a little on the restrictive side. Tailored to her form and including some elements of corsetry, she had to come up with a creative way of reaching the floor. Her stilettos didn’t help much either, but she leaned on a nearby attendee and managed to retrieve it.
Bradley Cooper Forgot to Blend His Makeup
American actor Bradley Cooper is your typical Hollywood heartthrob these days. But that doesn’t mean he hasn’t had some off moments. Here he is pictured in 2010 when he was 35 years old, with rather poor makeup application. That’s right – it doesn’t come naturally after all!
We don’t know how he didn’t notice how only half his face was tanned at the time. It appears that the tanned foundation has been blended right up until it gets to his beard. It would be unnoticeable if he had a fuller face of fuzz, but with the stubble he’s rocking, it doesn’t manage to work.
Timothee Chalamet Photobombs Margot Robbie
We can think of worse situations to find ourselves in, but that still doesn’t take away from the fact that this was a pretty cringy red carpet moment. Young actor Timothee Chalamet went to photobomb actress Margot Robbie’s moment in front of the camera, for which she thankfully reacted well.
She grabbed either side of his head in a playful manner before he tried to abruptly leave the situation. A good comedian knows when the joke’s up! Still, the whole situation was just a bit too forced and a bit unnecessarily handsy if you ask us. But what did we expect – they’re only human after all!
Jade Thirlwall Showed More Than She Intended To
Little Mix member Jade Thirlwall stepped out to the 2017 Brit Awards in a slinky silk dress and long leather gloves that were sure to turn a few heads. But she hadn’t betted on her dress revealing a little too much. We’re not that surprised it couldn’t contain all of her assets as it looks a little more like lingerie than anything else…
The only way she managed to stop herself from having a wardrobe malfunction was to cover herself with both hands. Of course, she couldn’t hold this position the whole time, so slip-ups did happen. There are a few too many photos where her underwear makes a red carpet appearance.
George Clooney Doesn’t Want to Hug Drew Barrymore
During the 2010 Golden Globes actress Drew Barrymore went in for a big hug with fellow actor George Clooney. The only problem is, it didn’t look like George was all that keen on it. While Drew has gone in for a proper bear hug, George looks like he’d prefer to just keep some distance.
Drew actually starred in one of George’s movies, the 2002 Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. But who knows, there might have been a clash of personalities during the shoot or some underlying hostility. Whatever it is, we can be pretty sure that these two are on different pages.
Bella Hadid Tries to Smile Through the Moment
For the premiere of the movie The Unknown Girl at 2016’s Cannes Film Festival, Bella Hadid stepped out in the most weightless dress we’ve ever seen. It was a crimson red Alexandre Vauthier gown that actually had a built-in playsuit hidden underneath all the silk.
It definitely looked awkward to see the supermodel negotiate the red carpet. She was constantly moments away from a major slip up and she had cameras surrounding every angle. But like a true model, she knew how to smile through the discomfort, even if her body language was letting on.
Channing Tatum and Adam Driver Find the Sweet Spot
Actors Channing Tatum and Adam Driver may not look that alike, but they ended up playing brothers in the 2017 film Logan Lucky. They obviously had off-set chemistry as well as on-set, as the two got pretty close at the London premiere of their movie. They struck a typical prom pose with each other for the paparazzi.
They’re so secure in themselves that they don’t mind playing it up a little for the cameras. With Adam’s warm embrace from behind and hands on Channing’s stomach, these two look plenty comfortable in each others’ company. We have no doubts they’d make a wonderful couple.
Juliette Lewis Boldly Photobombs Quentin Tarantino
Actress Juliette Lewis has a comedic past and this picture of her in 2000 demonstrates that perfectly. Here she is photobombing director Quentin Tarantino during a red carpet event when they were attending the Battlefield Earth Film Premiere in Hollywood. Clearly, she really gives herself to the moment.
Dressed all in white at the Manns Chinese Theatre, she attempted to leap in front of the Pulp Fiction director while pulling an ugly face. We love her slapstick humor and playful attitude – even at a high-profile event with Hollywood A-listers! Having also appeared in one of Quentin’s films in the ’90s, it’s safe to say that these two have a good relationship.
Nadia Bartel Needs to Be a Bit More Careful
Australian blogger Nadia Bartel wore a stunning vintage pale blue strapless gown at the 2019 Kennedy Brownlow Red Carpet in Melbourne, Australia. But it was a challenge staying so poised and together when every move she made threatened to expose her in ways she’d rather it didn’t.
The slit up the side of the skirt was so high and near the middle that on numerous occasions she almost flashed the cameras. And it’s not like she could have just slinked away for the night if she suffered a huge wardrobe mishap – she was hosting the event!
Sarah Jessica Parker’s Dress Might Be Too Short
Actress and producer Sarah Jessica Parker wore a skimpy pink dress in 2009 for the film premiere of Did You Hear About The Morgans? Having starred opposite British actor Hugh Grant, the two were arm in arm when they walked along the red carpet. Although, it looks like Hugh might have been a tad too friendly with his hands.
We can’t be sure that it alarmed Sarah, but we do know that she was self-conscious about her short dress for the rest of the night. Perhaps she felt a bit too exposed after Hugh let his hands wander. We hope he’s learned to keep them to himself next time!
Matthew McConaughey Left the Fake Tan on a Bit Too Long
Actor Matthew McConaughey had a bit of a slip-up at the 2018 Academy Awards show. He might have gone a bit too heavy with the fake tan and everyone seemed to notice. He was likened to having a “Ross from Friends” moment but with his skin tone instead of his teeth, and we can see why people drew that comparison.
People were quick to comment about it on Twitter, too, with many questioning why he went for such a deep and unnatural color. And unfortunately for him, he needed to get up on stage that night and talk to the A-list crowd. Oh well, you live and you learn.
Elizabeth Olsen Found Her Twin in Aubrey Plaza
Actress Elizabeth Olsen was the one twinning this time instead of her famous identical twin sisters, Mary-Kate and Ashley. She and actress Aubrey Plaza accidentally turned up to the 2017 premiere of Ingrid Goes West in exactly the same dress. The amazing thing is, they were also starring opposite each other in the film!
They only realized once they met on the red carpet, and by then it was a little too late to turn back. We think they look equally fabulous in the black and metallic frock, but that didn’t stop Elizabeth from changing when she got the chance. Later that evening she’s pictured wearing a stylish black tuxedo jacket and dress, obviously preferring not to twin at all.
Chris Hemsworth and Emily Blunt Are out of Their Depth
Actor Chris Hemsworth closed his eyes tight and hoped for the best at the Huntsman Winter’s War UK photocall in 2016. Mainly that was due to the flapping owl that he was forced to pose with alongside fellow cast member Emily Blunt. It didn’t really go as expected.
We’re not sure what happened, but something obviously spooked the winged creature and he thought he’d make a quick dash for it. The trainer was also pictured flailing around, as it wasn’t an expected move from the owl. No one said working with animals was easy.
Julianne Moore and Emma Stone’s Connection Runs Deep
It was the after-party for the 87th Annual Academy Awards Governors Ball at Hollywood & Highland Center in 2015. Actresses Julianne Moore and Emma Stone cozy up together, with the former trying to plant a big kiss on The Amazing Spider-Man actress. It sounds like a fun party.
And these gorgeous redheads have history. They starred opposite each other in Crazy, Stupid, Love in 2011. They’re both some of the most sought-after actresses in Hollywood, but it looks like they only have eyes for each other. That or Emma is thinking about how she can politely decline Julianne’s advances.
Margot Robbie Gets a Helping Hand From Alexander Skarsgard
Actress Margot Robbie was very close to having a wardrobe mishap at the London premiere of The Legend of Tarzan. It was 2016, and Margot’s beautiful Miu Miu dress managed to unbutton itself while she was still wearing it. It’s an awkward place to readjust your outfit, but she didn’t have much of a choice.
The movie’s leading actress may have needed Alexander’s helping hand in real life, but her character isn’t so helpless on-screen. As Alexander explained: “Their relationship is very different from most of the old iterations of the movie. Jane is not a victim. You can feel that he needs her as much as she needs him.”
Madonna Walks All Over Jessica Biel
’80s pop star Madonna was a little careless at the Golden Globes Awards Show in 2012. She inadvertently stepped on the train of Jessica Biel’s gorgeous white dress, almost causing a red carpet catastrophe. Jessica wobbled a bit to keep balance but did manage to stay upright.
This may not have been the meeting either of them expected to have with eachother, but at least it broke the ice. All though, we’re not sure Jessica was too keen to stick around the singer after that. They politely laughed off the whole incident and Jessica went about her merry way – while holding her train up, of course.
Justin Timberlake Gives Antonio Banderas a Ride
We’re not sure what came over Zoro actor Antonio Banderas when he was at the Shrek the Third premiere in 2007. They were in London to promote the film when the Spanish hunk leaped his whole body onto the “Cry Me a River” singer, which obviously took Tennessee-born Justin by surprise.
In what could have been a disastrous moment, Justin took it in his stride and just rode it out. You wouldn’t have thought it by his playful manner, but Antonio is actually 20 years older than Justin. That’s right, the 47-year-old wanted a piggyback ride from the 26-year-old.
Mike Posner Trolls Everyone at The Grammys
This photo of rapper Mike Posner and hip-hop artist Blackbear trolling singer Demi Lovato is just one example of the shenanigans they got up to. Turning up in electric green hairdos, the two music artists were hellbent on being chaotic for the 2017 Grammy Awards in Los Angeles.
While Demi was posing for the paparazzi, Mike and Blackbear sat on the red carpet and took her picture too. They were also awkward when being interviewed for E!’s Live from the Red Carpet, as Mike refused to speak to the presenter Giuliana Rancic. He whispered his answers into Blackbear’s ear to relay!
Ariel Winter Was Not Ready for This Dress
Actress Ariel Winter was in over her head with this showstopper of a dress at the Emmy’s in 2017. She was wearing a gorgeous embroidered halterneck dress by Steven Khalil, which featured extremely high double slits up the length of the skirt. While it looked beautiful, it was quite a challenge to wear.
When walking around, she often had to hold the front of the dress down with both hands and readjust before comfortably posing. She even had her boyfriend Levi Meaden help carry the train around while she went from place to place. We can’t blame her though, we’d hate to wear a dress that always threatened to expose us.
Olivia Munn Doesn’t Hug Taylor Swift Back
Actress Olivia Munn gave singer Taylor Swift an icy reception when she awarded the creator of “Bad Blood” an award at the 2013 People’s Choice Awards. Taylor went in for a polite embrace on-stage, but Olivia just gave an awkward look to the audience and kept a straight face.
Olivia was actually trying to be funny, joking about being envious of Taylor’s success and wanting the award for herself. She lingered on-stage afterward too, refusing to hand over the trophy and hogging the microphone. But the joke was kind of flat and didn’t really lighten the mood. Yikes.
Ryan Gosling Chuckles at Oscars’ Blunder
Actor Ryan Gosling couldn’t help but giggle when he realized that the Oscars had made an embarrassing mistake. Presenters Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway declared the winners of Best Picture as La La Land which starred Ryan and Emma Stone. But after calling up the actors to receive the award, they realized the terrible mistake.
2016’s Moonlight was the actual winner of Best Picture, which meant a lot of awkwardness on-stage as everyone tried to understand what to do next. But Ryan couldn’t help but laugh, trying to hide it by covering his mouth with his hand. But we saw. And we cringed along with you, too.
Olivia Coleman Gets a Big Wet Kiss From Ed Sinclair
When British actress Olivia Coleman won an Oscar for Best Actress in 2019, she was overcome with emotion. She has a genuine “from rags to riches” story, having previously worked as a cleaner in order to get by. Now, she plays the Queen herself in the Netflix series The Crown and takes home millions.
Her husband actor Ed Sinclair was right by her side and gave her one great sloppy kiss, pulling her back to do so! She was caught completely off guard when her name was called out and hadn’t prepared a speech. But she did manage to say on-stage: “This is hilarious. I’ve got an Oscar.” She added that “Next year I’ll be able to put it into words but I don’t know what to do with myself at the moment.”
Chrissy Teigen Laughs off an Awkward Moment
We’re not sure why model Chrissy Teigan opted for this incredibly high-cut dress for the American Music Awards of 2016, but we’re not surprised she had this awkward moment on the carpet. A slight breeze exposed poor Chrissy a lot more than she had originally planned. Her hands had to hold down the thin material as it just didn’t want to stay put.
Luckily, she doesn’t take herself too seriously, and just laughed off the whole thing. Her husband John Legend was also by her side looking understandably confused. She later wrote on Instagram in reply to a critical comment, “I was walking. It floated. It’s over. I can’t take it back. Here is a formal apology. What else would you like?”
Sienna Miller Wreaks Havoc on Keira Knightley’s Hair
Actresses Sienna Miller and Keira Knightley were posing with their arms around each other for the paparazzi when Sienna’s bracelet caught on to Keira’s loose waves. They were attending The Edge of Love film premiere at Edinburgh’s International Film Festival back in 2008 when the gaffe occurred.
Sienna had to struggle for a couple of minutes to detangle Keira’s hair out of the bracelet grooves, which is hardly the position anyone wants to be in when they’re in front of a sea of cameras. Luckily, she managed to separate the two without having to awkwardly hobble off somewhere private as a pair, or call for backup.
Natalie Portman Swoops in to Save Raffey Cassidy
When Natalie Portman and Raffey Cassidy were on the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival in 2018, Raffey got into a spot of trouble with her gown. They were joined by their Vox Lux director Brady Corbet and fellow costar Stacey Martin who was also on hand to save the 16-year-old from a fashion disaster.
Wearing an elaborate gold sequined Gucci gown with a plunging neckline, Natalie showed her humble side by getting stuck in to help out her costar. The image of all of them swooping is rather beautiful and looks a bit like a religious painting if you ask us. And luckily, a crisis was averted.
Tom Cruise Gave Katie Holmes a Dip Kiss
In June 2005 at the NYC War of the Worlds premiere, actor Tom Cruise gave actress and girlfriend Katie Holmes a cringy dip kiss on the red carpet. It was just a few days after his iconic interview with Oprah Winfrey, whereby he jumped around on a couch on The Oprah Winfrey Show declaring his love for Katie.
This showy display in front of the paparazzi failed to come across as sincere. They fell pregnant with their daughter Suri just four months later and married the following year. While they didn’t make it in the long run, they had a few solid years together in their little family.
Afef Jnifen Should Have Worn Dress Weights
Tunisian fashion model Afef Jnifen was left fighting the wind during the 2017 Venice Film Festival. But at least she wasn’t in the situation that a lot of other event-goers found themselves in if they were wearing short, low-cut, or generally revealing outfits. The long length of her dress kept her covered.
But she still had to endure her high-necked dress blowing in the wind and billowing around her tall frame. It cut some strange and dramatic silhouettes, and that’s just not what you want when you’re being snapped on the red carpet. Especially not if your profession depends on you to look sleek and composed!
Emma Thompson Is Sandwiched By Stanley Tucci And Simon Amstell
British actress Emma Thompson was awarded the Comedy Award for The Legend Of Barney Thomson at the London Evening Standard British Film Awards in 2016. British TV presenter and comedian Dimon Amstell was hosting the event, and actor Stanley Tucci was… also there.
But they weren’t going to let Emma get away with just a quick speech and a handshake. They end up hugging her from both sides creating a bizarre celebrity sandwich. Looking at Emma’s face, we can’t say that she looks all too pleased about it. Not as happy as Simon does anyway.
Leonardo DiCaprio Was Hug-Attacked
In 2014, Actor Leonardo DiCaprio was a victim of the serial-prankster Vitalii Sediuk, who likes to turn up to red carpet events and embrace celebrities. Leonardo was at the Santa Barbara International Film Festiva when the brave comedian ran towards his groin and gave his best bear hug.
Leonardo was obviously surprised at such an encounter, and no doubt a little flustered about what to do in front of so many onlookers. He tried to brush past him and ignore Vitalii as much as possible, before straightening up his custom suit. We can’t blame him, though… we’d be just as awkward about the whole thing too.
Miss World Was Upstaged by Her Outfit
Wilnelia Merced aka Miss World of 1975 had a bit of an outfit mishap in 2013 when the cape detailing on the straps of her lemon yellow dress flew into her face. They actually covered her head entirely at one point, but she wasn’t the only one being terrorized by the sheer fabric.
Her British TV presenter husband Bruce Forsyth was by her side for the British Academy Television Awards in London, and he also got tangled in the dress. The cape even wrapped around his neck, making the alarmed Bruce laugh. They simply had a mind of their own that day.
Rihanna’s Dress Betrays Her
Rihanna was standing in front of the cameras in 2018 for the movie Ocean’s 8 when her glamorous green gown slipped off her shoulder and threatened to expose her. She’s known to wear daring and revealing outfits both on and off the red carpet, but she had no intention of making this one of those times.
As we can see, she tried to sneakily readjust the dress and bring the strap back up at the London premiere of the film. And she kept it in her mind for the rest of the event, as she is later seen holding on tightly to the dress to keep it in place. But who cares, she looked stunning either way.
Lena Dunham Tries to Kiss Brad Pitt and It’s Weird
This awkward red carpet moment happened in 2019, where actress Lena Dunham looked as if she was weirdly forcing actor Brad Pitt into kissing her. We can see her craning her neck to get a good look at him, before walking past the other castmates to plant one on him.
But when she was asked about it during an interview with Andy Cohen this year, she replied: “The way the internet read it was I had somehow physically accosted him, causing him a great deal of stress. I would never force a kiss on Brad Pitt. I respect him far too much as an artist and a friend.” You’re free to interpret the images however you wish.
Jade Thirlwall Exposes Herself Once More at an Event
Little Mix’s Jade Thirlwall was at it again at the 2019 BRIT Awards. She thought she’d been smart about her outfit this time around as it covers significantly more of her than her 2017 Brit Awards dress. But challenges continued to present themself in this gorgeous beaded ensemble.
It may be a turtleneck dress, but the split in the skirt is still incredibly high. It’s more hip-height than thigh-high and required Jade to keep tugging at it throughout the night. Not only that, the beautiful train was tough to maneuver with stilettos on and needed a staff member to come and untangle her.
Dannii Minogue Loses Her Balance on the Stairs
Australian TV personality and sister to singer Kylie Minogue had a rough landing when she tried to descend the stair in 2012. She was all dressed up for the launch of her fashion collection and was leaving the event when she slipped on her long sequined dress, falling flat on her bum.
The problem was that the dress was floor length; or should we say past floor length. That and the fact that she’d probably had a few drinks down her. All things considered, she toppled over in a pretty graceful fashion, making sure to fall back rather than forward. That could have been a lot more awkward…
Jerry Seinfeld Is a Red Carpet Clown
Actor and stand-up comedian Jerry Seinfeld made a surprising appearance on the red carpet of the Emmys in 2016. It was the first time he had attended the show in 19 long years, and he decided to highlight his big appearance by performing a little dance.
He was attending due to the nomination of his Netflix show, Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee, for Best Variety Talk Show. But we don’t think the dance went down too well with the paparazzi, as Jerry pulled this pained face afterward. Either that or he managed to stub his toe with all that movement.
Lea Michele Can’t Get Enough of Herself at the Grammys
Glee star Lea Michele attended the 2017 Grammy Awards in a crop top/skirt ensemble created by designer Roberto Cavalli. But she got more attention once she whipped her phone out and started taking selfies right there in the middle of the red carpet. Other event attendees stood by and observed, but looked confused.
It might have something to do with her unusual eye makeup, with included an eyeshadow look but no mascara, fake lashes, or eyeliner. In what might have been an award show first, the actress went with her bare eyelashes to the glamorous event, as her makeup artist said she didn’t want to obstruct the color on the lids. It’s a bit unusual but we like it.
Czechoslovakian model Petra Nemcova attended the Blackkklansman film premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in 2018. She wore a very lightweight silk dress, however, which was no match for the sea breeze in the South of France. It led to a pretty awkward moment on the red carpet.
Unfortunately, Petra’s dress flew open and revealed her in her underwear! But she’s a seasoned pro at keeping a professional model face even when things don’t go as expected. But one thing’s for certain; she gave the Spike Lee film premiere photographers more than they bargained for.
Emma Watson Laughs at Her Awkwardness
English actress Emma Watson is known for having a good sense of humor, and that extends to her own shortcomings. While on the red carpet for the New York film premiere of Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 1, her heels got tangled in the choppy layers of her fluffy gown.
Instead of trying to pretend a serious accident almost didn’t happen, she heartily laughed at her own gaffe. She even needed to sit for a moment to properly readjust herself but Emma didn’t take herself too seriously. We love how down-to-earth she is!
Gigi Hadid Shouldn’t Have Worn Such Long Sleeves
Supermodel sister Gigi and Bella Hadid were wearing high-end couture when they left Gigi’s apartment in New York when she almost tripped up. She’s not got two left feet – Gigi’s gold evening gown had floor-length sleeves that, naturally, she stepped on.
It may be a stunning dress designed by Zuhair Murad but it’s no smart design! But the heel on her Christian Louboutin pumps probably didn’t help things much, either. It was lucky for her she had her young sister by her side to stabilize on and keep her upright. She’s her rock, literally.
Monisha Lew Fatt Is the Bravest of Them All
Football player Jack Wighton’s partner Monisha Lew Fatt came to the Dally M Awards of 2019 in one of the most revealing dresses we’ve ever seen. The event planner wore a hot pink, one-shoulder dress with large cutaways and see-through mesh paneling. Understandably, she had trouble keeping herself concealed.
It was especially challenging for her when she stepped on the front of the gown and felt the dress slip down. Just a glance at where the cut-outs are placed will let you know why that could have been a disastrous moment for Monisha! All we know is she’s braver than the rest of us for going out in such a daring outfit.
Kim and Kanye Totally Ignore a Helpless Amy Schumer
Comedian and actress Amy Schumer was brave when she pretended to fall in front of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West at the Time 100 Gala in 2015. She explained that the thinking behind her bizarre prank stemmed from jealousy: “You feel like a girl at a party when a slightly hotter girl shows up behind you.”
She went on to say that, “The energy changed, it felt like there was an earthquake because they were on the carpet. And I see them and they’re standing there and they just stood there like, ‘You’re welcome,’” adding that, “They own it, that’s their moment and they’re very short and important. Famous people are all very short.” In a roundabout way, we get what you’re saying, Amy.
America Ferrera Has an Unexpected Guest
When Ugly Betty actress America Ferrera was posing for group photos alongside the Hollywood heavyweights Cate Blanchett and Kit Harrington, that last thing she expected was a visitor under her gown. But serial prankster and red carpet pest saw to it that he should find his own way of getting some one-of-a-kind paparazzi shots.
Attending the 2014s How to Train Your Dragon 2 premiere at The Palais des Festivals the Ukrainian journalist tried his luck at comedy, but naturally, it wasn’t so well received. Guards appear to have grabbed a limb each to carry him off away from the stars, but it’s too late; he’s already had his fun. Better act faster next time!
Jason Derulo Wasn’t the One Who Fell Down the Stairs
It was 2015, and Jason Derulo was the 29-year-old R&B singer who took a tumble down the Met Gala stairs – or so the papers reported. As a rumor that may have started on Twitter, it soon gained traction with the press. But in reality, it was even a celebrity at all rather, an anonymous attendee.
It doesn’t take away from just how much of a commotion the young man caused. Bodyguards rush to try and stop him from picking up momentum, but it doesn’t help much and he still ends up at the bottom of the stairs. Referring to the falling man as Jason Derulo is a running internet joke even to this day, with people still asking about it at every annual MET Gala since.
Melissa Joan Hart’s Bad Makeup Embarrasses Her
As the star of Sabrina the Teenage Witch since the 90s, Melissa Joan Hart is an experienced celebrity at this point. This is what makes it all the more surprising she missed this one in 2013. Pictured at Disney’s Frozen movie premiere in Hollywood, her makeup clearly wasn’t camera-ready.
The face powder used to pat down her foundation might be invisible to the naked eye, but with flash photography, it shows itself. She clearly realized a little too late, having already posed for photos on the red carpet by the time someone told her.
